The sun emits ultraviolet radiation of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths shorter than ordinary light, so it is not visible to the naked eye. Ultraviolet radiation is classified as UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVA and UVB is what we often hear because the rays can penetrate the earth's atmosphere and touch our skin, while UVC is not, because of shorter light and easily absorbed by the ozone layer.
UVA or ultraviolet wave length, has an estimated distance of between 320-400 nanometers (nm). UVA can penetrate the skin or even glass and does not feel hot. UVA can damage cells in the epidermal layer of skin keratinocytes that will cause skin cancer. Although the intensity UVA UVB paparanya more than about 95%, and the ability to penetrate the skin deeper than UVB but not as strong UVA UVB UVA means weaker than UVB.
UVB or short-wave ultraviolet, is estimated between 290-320 nm. UVB turned out to have more harmful effects, namely: UVB can burn and damage the epidermal layer of skin. The intensity of his presentation was not fixed, depending on season, time and location. UVB is also not able to penetrate the glass.
UVA and UVB can be avoided by protecting our body to not directly exposed to sunlight, especially between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm.
